Inheritance #1-3
Project type
Generational Trauma, Inherited trauma, alcoholism, recycled material art, trash art
Recycled Materials Used:
– Broken vintage vinyl record album covers
– Guitar pick punch (teardrop shapes)
– Broken and discarded jewelry
This series was born from a painful conversation about alcoholism—an issue that has shaped my family across generations. Made from broken vintage vinyl record album covers, each piece is punched with teardrop-shaped holes using a guitar pick cutter, a nod to both music and mourning. The repetition of these forms evokes emotional strain and the way trauma ripples through time. From the bottom edge of each work, fragments of broken jewelry drip downward like suspended tears—representing not just tangible inheritances, but the invisible weight of generational grief, addiction, and resilience. These works honor both what is passed down and what must be released.
